Basic Info
Name:Athanasy & Atimy
Bio
I'll be using the journal to let off steam (rant) about stuff, and to publish fanfic until I set up a proper website. This is all likely to be hit and miss, and very intermittent - all depends on where I am in the world and how much time I have with 'net access. I'm new to using lj and so it's likely to take some time to get in the swing of making regular entries. Please have patience with me.

I watch waaaay too much tv - I admit I'm an addict having, at sometime or other, been hooked on the following : Alias, Angel, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica (new), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chuck, Doctor Who (new), Due South, Enterprise, Farscape, Firefly/Serenity, Fringe (jury's still out, JJ!), Heroes, House, Jake 2.0, John Doe, Kung Fu the Legend Continues, L&O SVU, NCIS, Numb3rs, Odyssey 5, Prison Break, Quantum Leap, Sentinel, Space Above & Beyond, Spooks, Star Trek DS9, Star Trek Voyager, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Supernatural, Torchwood, West Wing, X-Files. And I know I've missed some out of that alphabetical list somewhere. Anyhoo, current weakness is for the shows listed in my 'interests'.

Which leads to my other major addiction...fanfiction. I tend to dive into a particular show and then read every scrap of fanfic I can lay my hands on. Once I'm saturated (ie, I've caught up with everything that's been written and the poor authors can't keep up with my insatiable appetite), I will either kick my heels waiting for new input (feed me!!), or end up diving into a new show to keep feeding the need. I originally started in Due South, but this led rapidly to KFTLC, Silk Stalkings, ST:Voy, SG-1, BFTVS, Angel, West Wing, back into KFTLC and SG-1, then into The Sentinel, Firefly, new Who, Numb3rs and, most recently, SGA. I'm still actively keeping up to date with the fic being written in Sen & SGA (damn their hides for cancelling both shows :-) And yes, I'll read almost any fanfic that's written in my favourite fandoms. I have some reading lines I won't cross (which I won't bore you with here), but I certainly don't shy away from something that has an 'adult' tag on it - I've found some of the most amazingly well written, well crafted and hugely satisfying (in a non-pr0n way) reading in the adult archives.

I have been dabbling in fanfic since before I even knew it had a name...1984 was the first time I put pen to paper (yep, no pc or even access to a typewriter then). And now I have a tonne of fanfics outlined in various fandoms on my laptop & pc - mainly SGA, DW, TS at the moment, unless I dust off the old floppy disks and start looking back at some DS, STV and QL outlines. And outlines is pretty much as far as I've got. There are a small number that have been completed, but I'm not sure I'll post them here or anywhere since they're early attempts and really show it. I have no idea how long it will take for any of the rest to come to fruition. I think I just need to get into the swing of writing it all out, instead of just keeping stuff in my head. And whilst I can't say for sure which way any of the stories will develop (anything from G to NC17), I can say that I will not pull any punches, or tone down language to protect anyones sensibilities. That's not to say that every other word is an expletive (there's far too much use of the 'f' word in everyday life now, it's losing it's effectiveness as we're becoming inurred to it). I'm just saying most of my stories are generally NOT written with the 'younger' audience in mind. All stories will be published with required ratings & warnings as appropriate, so lectat emptor...or something to that effect!

Also, I'm a tech geek, IT nerd, whatever you want to call it. I love my 'puter, my laptop and gadgets in general. I am quite proud of the fact that I can, in a sometimes stumbling fashion, put together a pc from the components (motherboard, cpu, hd, etc) and have it actually work! This has come in handy in the family, as I've now rebuilt/upgraded 3 pc's.
